What is Toastmasters?
Dr Ralph Smedley, A YMCA worker, organized the first Toastmasters Club in Bloomington, Illinois in 1905 To help people who needed to learn how to talk, how to conduct meetings, how to plan programmes and how to work on committees effectively. We learn by active participation by running meetings, giving speeches, evaluating speakers and by giving impromptu talks followed by friendly, positive oral and written feedback provided by other members. The suggestions which we receive are a very important part of our progress in Toastmaster. Effective progress in Toastmasters helps us too become more effective communicators and leaders in meeting our personal and career goals?
